7.20.20 - Here is the END-the Victory Part of our Discussion

The good news: the victory of good over evil.

Sometimes it seems as if evil is winning out. However, by his death and resurrection, Jesus has already won the victory over evil. Read: The War is Over. What remains is just our own individual battles (choices).

With all this focus on judgement, we run the risk of not seeing the forest for the trees.

Too often, we tend to think that God’s only agenda is to get humans to the finish line so we can go live with Him, which has the danger of becoming a kind of escapism. In fact, God’s #1 priority is not about us coming to live with Him, but about Him coming to live with us. Developing a relationship with Him here, in this life, is what this life is for; and that is what prepares us for what comes next. This is also what Jesus means by, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, On Earth as it is in Heaven.”

Closing Prayer: For the Priests

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.

Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Give them the words they need to teach the Gospel. Help them experience joy in their ministry.

Comfort them when they are alone.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Eternal Priest.
